Motorcyclists
Against Childhood Cancer (M.A.C.C.). -
The Organization
M.A.C.C.
was incorporated in November 2004. The Executive is as follows:
Brian
K. Oswald, BSc, CET, CD
President
Born
and raised in the Ottawa valley, served with the Canadian Armed Forces (1976 -
1994) and accepted early retirement in 1994. After retirement and not the type
of guy to sit around, continued his career working in the High Tech Industry out
in Ottawa's Silicon Valley (Kanata). Brian gained allot of experience in his
career sitting on and chairing a number of Committees from raising funds for
worthy causes to Entertainment Chairman at CFS Alert (Top of the World). In 2005
Brian set out on his own and is now the owner / operator of OS Computer Services
servicing the Prescott Russell township
allowing him the extra time needed to help fight Childhood Cancer. Brian has
been involved with the MACC Foundation since it's inception in 2004, starting
out as a Director in 2005 to Vice President in 2006 and now President in 2007.
Mike Smith
Vice President
It
all started with a dream, Mike is a local motorcyclist from Curran, Ontario.
Always riding with several of his friends at local events raising money for the
different charities in the area, learned that the monies raised more often then
not ended up going south (US) to the different charity Headquarters.
It was
Mike’s idea to form a registered Canadian charity that would direct its funds
to the needed families, charities and research here in CANADA. Mike shared this
dream with a few of his friends. All that was needed now was to select a field
in which to put this to work.
Being
that Mike Smith at this time in his life was involved with the Optimist
International Organization and seeing that as an optimist (Regional President)
he was always running events directed towards children, it was decided to
concentrate on Childhood Cancer.
Together
Mike and a few of his friends that shared in his dream formed the M.A.C.C
{Motorcyclists Against Childhood Cancer} Foundation in the fall of 2004.
Sandra Smith
Secretary
The
M.A.C.C. Foundation offered Sandy the opportunity to join in the fight against
childhood cancer and to help find a cure. Being
a mother and a grandmother, she understands what a sick child goes through
during a serious illness. We wish
we could take their place and spare them the agony and cries.
If M.A.C.C. can help at least one child and make him well again, our
efforts will not be wasted.
Treasurer
o
Joseph
Ronald Michel St-Jean
Director of Personnel
Semi-retired
from numerous jobs, such as Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Canada Post and family
business to name a few. Michel has
been a sawyer for more than 10 years custom sawing with his portable sawmill as
a part-time business.
Our secretary Lorraine and Michel married on July
15th 1967 in Timmins Ontario; yes 40 years, resulting in three
children, eight grandchildren and one motorcycle.
In the beginning he got involved with the
Motorcyclists Against Childhood Cancer Foundation as a Director because he
happened to be at the right place at the right time and it seemed like a good
idea. Since then it has evolved.
Due to the nature of the Foundation, there is enormous potential for
development. With the present personnel
on the Board of Directors, and with baby steps (see Brian), M.A.C.C. can make a
significant contribution in the fight against childhood cancer.
His
hobbies include woodworking but mostly motorcycle rides, his therapy against
stress.
